Guiyang is a beautiful city. It's a small place by Chinese standards, only about 5 million people. The city center is fairly bustling, and growing all the time. It's surrounded by lots of smaller suburbs, and I live in one of those. Jinyang is about 25 km from downtown, mostly residential, but it has plenty of shopping centers and parks. I don't feel like I have to travel downtown too often, but it's an easy taxi ride or bus trip if I need to.
Jinyang has some absolutely beautiful parks, and my current favorite is Quan Hu. It's less than 2 miles away from where I live, and it's phenomenal. Its dominated by a huge lake with a pedestrian path all around it. On the south side, there's a large hill with several stair paths up to observation posts and sights to see. It's a great place to spend a day exploring and enjoying the weather, which is what I did on Sunday.
This is the first time I've been able to put my new camera to use, so enjoy some pictures of Quan Hu park. The camera's a Panasonic Lumix DMC GX-85, and I used a few different lenses to get some of these pics. I'm still learning how to use it, so I'd welcome any advice or tips.

Near the shore, there's a lot of vegetation. It looks very healthy. I'm pretty happy with how the light turned out in this one.

I didn't get too close to this, but it's a neat piece of art that I'll check out in more detail next time I'm here. |
|
Another neat sculpture, the park's full of them. |
|
There's such a variety of plant life around here, and I hope these pictures show just how lush this place is. |

I really appreciate how the signs in the park have English translations. It's rare in this part of China. |

The stairs up the hill on the south side of the lake are some serious business. |

This shrine is located in an out of the way place up the hill. It's secluded, quiet, and beautiful. |
|
At the top of the hill is this gigantic Buddha and reflecting pool. It's as impressive as anything I've seen here. |
|
I took this photo from the platform the Buddha is on, using a telephoto lens. I couldn't find my way to this building, but I'll find it next time. |
